About Gary Renola, the most qualified candidate:
o Gary and his wife, Elaine, have been Seabrook residents for 16 years and Bay Area residents for 29 years. Elaine and Gary have been married for 33 years. o Strong and experienced leader that resolves problems effectively. Gary has extensive leadership experience in the business community and city government and is a committed community volunteer. o Completing his third year on Seabook City Council Position 6 including one year as Mayor Pro Tem. Served as City Council Liaison for Planning and Zoning Commission for several years. Also, lead City Council negotiator for the new contract with the Seabrook Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD). o Served 3 years on the Seabrook Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), including president in 2005. Under Gary’s leadership, the Seabrook Marine District Study was completed. This study is the catalyst for several quality developments in Seabrook that will help diversify our economic base. o Holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and a Masters and Doctorate in Chemical Engineering. o Employed as a Project Executive with a major corporation, responsible for project development from conception through design and construction. He plans and manages projects with multi-million dollar budgets. o Serving third year on Bay Area Transportation Partnership (BAYTRAN) Board of Directors, an organization that facilitates Bay Area regional mobility management for employers, government agencies and residents. o Served as Board Chairman for the West Chambers County Chamber of Commerce (Mont Belvieu, TX) in 2004 and is serving his seventh year on the Chamber Board of Directors. He has lead Chamber initiatives including a Capital Campaign and a Strategic Planning Committee. o Served on the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Greater Houston for six years and currently a Big Brother for over 10 years. As a Board member was active in committees that included Fund Development, Bowl For Kids Sake and Bylaw’s. Currently mentoring a 16-year-old “Little Brother”, a relationship nurtured for over 6 years. Currently serving on the Friends of Big Brothers Big Sisters to assist the BBBS in the Bay Area with recruitment and fundraising. o Recognized by his community and company for volunteer work including: Bay Area Men and Women of Heart 2004, BBBS Volunteer of the Year 2001, and his company’s Global Responsible Care Award 2005 for distinguished community service o Regularly participates in civic and charitable fundraising events both in his home and work communities. These include Men Who Cook benefiting police charities, Breakfast with Santa, Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids Sake, American Cancer Society Baytown Relay for Life, West Chambers County Fall Fest War On Drugs and Celebrity Waiter Events in the Bay Area. o Gary is an accomplished tennis player, having played United States Tennis Tournaments throughout the state. Gary is an experienced amateur photographer taking pictures of local birds and Seabrook events like Breakfast With Santa and the City Fishing tournament.
